About Us

Our Mission:

We strive to connect children and adults to the natural world through storytelling, classroom talks, nature walks, films, and books based on our adventures working with wildlife at home and around the world.

As part of our commitment to nature we support a number of conservation organizations

around the world with a portion of our profits.

 Dr. Jessica Dimuzio

graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine where she specialized in wildlife preservation. She has conducted research on elephants, rhinos and wild baboons in Kenya, Africa and has taught field-based conservation programs in the U.S., Africa, and Asia. She has been published in many veterinary journals and conservation newsletters, and contributes to conservation-oriented social media sites. Her interest in writing for children stems from seeing the enthusiasm of students in nature programs she has taught in the U.S. and abroad. Dr. “D” uses her award-winning books to teach persuasive writing, civic responsibility, and organic gardening. Her film, African Animals' Lullaby, introduces the viewer to the sounds and sights of the African savannah and demonstrates the variety of ways animals communicate. With Nature Tales and Trails, Dr. "D" can share the natural world with more children and adults through her writing, storytelling, films, and nature walks.

Dr. Tim Halverson

earned his doctorate in Ecology and Animal Behavior at the University of Maryland. He has conducted research on insects, amphibians, birds, and mammals around the world, including studying sunbirds in Kenya with the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia and endangered Asian deer with the National Zoo. He has taught field-based conservation programs in the U.S., Africa, Asia, and South America through the Smithsonian Institution and The School for Field Studies. Dr. Halverson has been published in such journals as American Naturalist, The Canadian Entomologist, and Zoo Biology. Dr. Tim, (a.k.a. BugMan) works with Audubon Society, Montgomery County Parks and Heritage Services, and the Farm Park Preservation Association to lead bird walks and bug walks for adults and children. He especially enjoys getting kids excited about the fascinating world of insects and birds with "up-close and personal " encounters.
